Monday Morning “Impediment to Productivity” – 20051010

Hi,

Good morning and big welcome to the influx of new people (yes you know who you are).

Stuff on the ThatchSpace Blog
https://thatchspace.com/wordpress/2005/10/07/leonardo-da-vincis-notebooks/ or have a look at all the recent “Mondays” stuff
https://thatchspace.com/wordpress/category/mondays/

Some of you might be interested in the “Code Stuff” Section, we have some nice new CSS references at the moment. https://thatchspace.com/wordpress/category/codestuff/

Anyway on with the show.

A piece of paper, a pair of scissors, too much free time and a computer. What do you get? A fabbo “Impediment to Productivity” Emergency Scrabble.

and scrabble is what I would do right now, because some one with lawyers and a copyright are going to come down on these guys like a ton of… well you know what. Don’t you think that this is taking “just because we can” right out to the very edge? and a dead tree version to boot.

Bubble wrap, a word that brings joy to nearly everyone’s heart, so let me reprise nearly everyone’s favourite silly, strange, bizarre, weird, silly, useless, funny, silly, mindless, time wasting, did I mention silly? and stress relieving past times, Here is a different virtual bubble wrap ( and some might say it’s superior to the previous version).

Enjoy.(You really don’t want to know how many of these things are out there and if you do, well that’s what Google is for http://www.google.com/search?q=pop+bubble+wrap&btnG=Search )

Phil sent in this awesome complaint letter (and no he wasn’t complaining about me… I don’t think?)

Now not wishing to pick on any BIG, MONOPOLISTIC, UNCARING, Australian, soon to be privatised, telecommunications giant in particular, I reckon most of their customers out there could file the NTL references off and replace it with the BIG, MONOPOLISTIC, UNCARING, Australian, telecommunications company name and really let them know how you feel. Blame Phil… remember I’m from a big family, it’s always someone else’s fault.

I have no idea what Sobics is or what the “cute” claymation character is supposed to be, but this Flash brick game is a hoot. The object is to clear away the bricks by arranging four of the same colour next to each other. It’s a simple premise, but seriously addicting. You can pick up a single brick at a time or grab a whole stack of the same colour, and there are stone walls that hinder your progress and dynamite that destroys them (blowing things up on a Monday….cool), and, of course, the pace gets faster the more levels you beat. and yes it beeps and stuff.

Plastic Balls is a clever variation on the classic Breakout equation. You still have blocks to break, but Instead of keeping the ball from falling off the bottom of the screen, you have to use your paddle keep it from falling into the “drain” in the centre. Help me ObiWan… (if any gets over 500 I don’t want to know about it).
