Monday Morning “Impediment to Productivity” – 20060213

Here we go again.

A plethora of Blame items to choose from this week. (But I will keep most of them for a “dry” week… Dave Barry,, we thank you)

So this weeks “Dont Blame Me, It’s {insert poor unsuspecting victims name here} Fault” is courtesy of Monique. I quote “How about this, my kids love it. Take a moment and watch! Very clever” So I did, and then so did Jools and now it’s your turn. Ilana Yahav is a sand animation artist‘. Using only her fingers, Ilana draws with sand on glass table. (Not sounding all that promising is it, trust me it’s worth it.) http://www.sandfantasy.com/videoclips/just_imagine_long.wmv

Oops it’s Flash Game Time.
From the show off game designers over at Gamedesign, here’s Tennis. This game couldn’t be simpler. Use the arrow keys to move, the space bar to swing. As with all the best games, the controls are simple, it’s easy to get started, and then the pain begins. This is not an easy game to win, but a lot of fun to play. By the way, Gamedesign has a ton of stuff like this.

Eye Candy and Geek Alert: This site has been around for quite a while and it gets a mention today just because it is gorgeous to behold. Electric Sheep is a screensaver, open source, cross platform, and free (everytime Jools see’s this one she is about one click away from putting Linux on her PC … and then she remembers Photoshop). However, it uses distributed computing of a sort to generate massively complex fractal animations that grow over time, and evolve in complexity. It’s impossible to describe the images created. You can view checkout the gallery. My tip when you run this is to give it some time. The best images take several hours to generate, but they are worth it. All cool stuff, but ultimately just really neat eye candy. http://electricsheep.org/ and you can find the gallery isat http://electricsheep.org/index.cgi?&menu=samples

More EyeCandy.
Web site MyDeskCity.com is almost all in Japanese so I can’t tell you much about it except there are tons of fantastic free desktop wallpaper images there available for download, at 1600 by 1200 pixels. Some of the other sections on the site may not be “workplace friendly” or are just plain weird as only the Japanese can do weird (absolutely brilliantly). http://www.mydeskcity.com/1600BZ78.htm

I don’t know about this, I used to have a piece of desk sculpture that looked kind of like this. I think that because it is “mechanical” that I have the odd perceptual problem with this one. Anyway for all you people out there with access to the stationery cupboard (and you know who you are) and , have fun. Let me know how it all works out. Send me a picture. http://tryingtogrowup.blogspot.com/2006/01/how-to-make-pen-holder.html

Now don’t forget the to pop into the blog ( https://thatchspace.com/ ) for the odd update during the week.

CC:365 bits of note from the last week: Day 37 : 50FootWave – Hot Pink, Distorted and the find of the week
Day 41 : Sleepy Rabbit – The Tropic of Cancer (glorious ambient)
and maybe ( I don’t know why? It just made me smile)
Day 40 : Kiff’On – Jet Set

As usual Have a good one

and welcome back Bill
